The Reception Summer Readiness Pack: 10-day programme

The Reception Summer Readiness Pack: 10-day programme

Your child only starts Reception once.

The national standard tells you where children should be by the end of Reception. It doesn't tell you where the strongest starters are in September.

The Reception Summer Readiness Pack is a structured 10-day programme designed to close that gap, before your child's first day of school.

“We have really enjoyed using it and found it very easy, we're feeling prepared for school!”
— Early Advantage parent

What’s inside

Forty short activities across the four foundations that matter most when children start school:

  • Phonics — sound awareness and early letter recognition
  • Early maths — counting, number sense and simple patterns
  • Pencil control — developing grip, tracing and early handwriting
  • Independence — routines, self-care and school-readiness habits

Each day takes just 15–20 minutes, split across four short activities that don’t need to be done in one sitting.

Built around three expert lenses

  • EA Insight — why this skill matters beyond the national standard
  • What to Notice — the signs your child has mastered the skill, or where they need more practice
  • Reception Teacher Perspective — what teachers notice in the first few weeks, and the small skills that help children settle confidently from day one
